China Jfortune is a global hot plate welding machine specialist with good after sales service.

Hot Plate Welding Machine for Thermoplastic Plastic Parts

Hot plate welding is a stable plastic joining process for thermoplastic parts that need strong, airtight or liquid-tight welds. Jfortune supplies hot plate welding machines, custom fixtures and tooling for automotive reservoirs, ducts, tanks, battery parts, plastic pallets, filter housings, appliance parts, medical products and industrial plastic components.

The process heats the weld surfaces with a controlled hot plate, removes the plate, presses the softened plastic parts together and cools the joint under pressure. For each project, we review material, weld geometry, heating temperature, pressure, cooling time, fixture structure, cycle time and production capacity.

Machine options include pneumatic, hydraulic, servo motor, horizontal and bespoke hot plate welding systems. For OEM/ODM production lines and automation integrators, Jfortune can discuss PLC/HMI control, fixture quick-change design, sample welding tests, delivery inspection, training and after-sales service.

Frequently asked: What information is needed for quotation? Please send drawings, material, product photos, weld area, target output and quality requirements so we can recommend a suitable machine and tooling concept.

The Process

Hot plate welding is a simple process that involves using a heated platen with customized heat inserts that match the shape of the weld plane. The plastic parts to be joined are placed against the heated plate, which causes the joint interface to melt and soften. Once the plastic reaches the desired temperature, the parts are pressed together, completing the welding process. This direct thermal contact method ensures a clean and seamless join between the plastic parts.

If the lens using PC material contact welding wire drawing serious, it is recommended to use TR welding, noncontact does not exist wire drawing problem.

Q:Both lens and housing need to be heated with low temperature and the hot plate needs Teflon coating.

Jfortune reply:

It can all use low temperature welding, hot plate with Teflon coating. The cost will be increased a little correspondingly,  and the welding cycle will also increase. The total welding cycle is about 55 seconds (excluding manual loading and unloading parts).

In addition, the equipment requirements will increase, the need to speed up the equipment’s running: because low temperature welding, while product cooling needs accelerate, so the cost of equipment will increase a little too.
